Writing residency Summer 2024

A whole month, really a whole month! That’s what I thought in advance as I looked forward to the artist residency at Libken in Germany’s Uckermark.

Writing in the kitchen, in bed, in the library, in the archive of the library where a special corner has been created for people who really want to concentrate completely. And writing at the end of the world; outside at a rocking table with an unobstructed view to the East. Some days I didn’t see any of the view at all because I was writing so intently, and some days I saw every bird, deer and fox.

Especially that spot in the archive where I sat every morning between 07:15 and 09:30 and the table outside at the end of the field and gaze into infinity, I won’t soon forget. Also, the realisation that so many writers before and after me have written and will write in that exact spot is something that influenced my writing.
